Denver Tree Services: Winter Park Residents Don’t Like Tree Trimming
It is true-: Tree-lined Winter Park has lost some shade due to aggressive tree trimming.
The forestry department and power utility of Winter Park have begun making significant V-shaped wedge cuts into many of the around 5,000 trees in in Winter Park to trim them away from power lines.
The Residents in the Winter Park area have always been fond of their trees in the area so this aggressive tree trimming has upset many of them.
In the past trees were trimmed 4 feet from power lines, but this time they trimmed them 8 feet from the power lines that they were near. This was done in order to help prevent limbs from breaking and damaging a power line during a storm.
Emails were sent from people upset by what many consider to be excessive trimming, even though many parts of the country utilize up to a 10-foot space between their trees and their power lines.
The new plan to save the trees and keep the power lines safe from broken limbs will not be revealed until the fall of 2012.
Winter Park is known for it’s beautiful forest, excellent mountain biking trails, and of course great ski slopes when the snow hits the
ground. Despite the fact that there have been numerous complaints, the city has not taken any action to fix the problem.
Of course the trees will grow back. Hopefully by the time the new plan happens we will see beautiful trees again in the Winter Park area.

The Importance of Boiler Maintenance
The boiler you have installed in your home is like the heart of the house. It constantly pumps hot water around the pipes into radiators and keeps you and your family warm. We all know that we should look after our heart by eating healthily and exercising and the same is true for the boiler. We need to look after it and have a boiler maintenance program so it is checked at least once a year.
Boiler maintenance is not really something that you can do yourself. You must use a registered engineer or professional service to carry out the service. Prices will vary depending on your location and they type of boiler you have installed, but it is a good investment.
Investing in regular boiler maintenance can extend the life of your boiler for years. Any problems can be picked up early and fixed before they cause irreparable damage to the boiler system. Getting the boiler checked out can also save your life. Imagine if there was a Carbon Monoxide leak from your boiler. This gas is odourless and can be a killer. If you don’t own a Carbon monoxide detector, you would have no idea there was a leak until it was too late. A boiler service would identify any leaks and action could be taken to repair the faulty parts making the boiler safe.
The average household boiler has many parts that require periodical attention such as the flue and the gas jets. Dirt can easily build up in the heating system which can cause blockages and affect the performance of the boiler itself. Boiler maintenance carried out by a professional will give you peace of mind and the knowledge that your boiler system is safe.

How to Prevent Your Boiler from Breaking Down
The cost of boiler repairs are high, including labour, parts, and the boiler down time. Still, many people ignore the state of the boiler until it breaks down and requires repairs. A more cost-effective solution is to practice active boiler maintenance to catch small problems early and maintain efficiency.
## Staying in Service
Like most machinery, the boiler will accumulate grit that is harmful to operation. A running boiler removes this grit, but one that is sitting idle for months during summer can experience severe problems. The boiler should be started at least once a month to prevent the build-up of grit.
## Check for Blockage
Like other heat exchange systems, the boiler requires a certain amount of air flow to run properly. The air vents and outside flues are designed to maximize air flow, but they can become blocked with debris. Regularly checking the vents and flues for obstructions will result in high flow rates and optimal performance.
## Staying Alert for Leaks
A carbon monoxide alarm placed near the boiler is critical for catching fuel leaks before they present a hazard. Water leaks can compromise function and lead to costly repairs and even the need for replacement. Catch them early by watching for standing water, rust, and corrosion. It is far less expensive to repair a small leak.
## The Once a Week Check-up
Changes in the operating pressure, water level, and temperature can all be early warning signs of a problem. Check these once per week to ensure optimal function. A visual inspection of the pilot light, burner and feedwater pump can prevent dangerous accidents.
An annual check-up from a professional team may seem like an unwarranted expense, but this can further reduce the cost of repairs and extend the boiler’s life. Boiler maintenance is critical for safety and energy efficiency.
